Mathematics PhD Student Awarded Prestigious BGF Grant

Caroline Namanya has been awarded the BGF grant for her PhD studies. Caroline is studying for a PhD in Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics (College of Natural Sciences), Makerere University in Uganda. She was nominated for the grant by one of her advisors Professor Michael Wemyss, University of Glasgow, UK. The subject of the research project, co-supervised by Professor David Ssevviiri from Makerere University, is Chamber Structures of 3-Fold Flops.
BGF grants are funded by generous donations from all the Breakthrough Prize winners. Every year, the award of full PhD grants goes to three students engaged in a PhD degree in the mathematical sciences in a developing country.
